Classroom Context: Teacher Major/Minor

As part of the 2009 mathematics assessment, teachers of fourth- and eighth-graders were asked about their undergraduate and graduate education. The full text of the questions, the corresponding percentages, and scale scores of students whose teachers responded within each category are shown below.

There were no statistically significant differences between the average scores of fourth-graders in large city schools based on teachers' reports of not having a graduate degree in education (231) or having a graduate major (233) or minor (229) in education.
