Classroom Context: Computer Use

As part of the 2009 mathematics assessment, fourth-, eighth-, and twelfth-graders were asked the frequency with which they used computers for mathematics work. The full text of the question, the corresponding percentages, and scale scores of students whose teachers responded in each category are below.

B. Once every few weeks
C. About once a week
D. Two or three time a week
E. Every day or almost every day

Over 60 percent of fourth-graders reported never or hardly ever using a computer for math at school.
