Trend in average scores for eighth-grade public school students in NAEP reading, by jurisdiction
Findings
Average scores in Atlanta and Cleveland were higher in 2007 compared to all previous years.
Average scores in Atlanta, Cleveland, the District of Columbia, and Houston were higher in 2007 than in 2005.
Average scores in Los Angeles were higher in 2007 than in 2002 and 2003.
1 District did not participate in 2002 and/or 2003. 2 Data for eighth-graders in New York City were not available in 2002 because the district did not meet minimum participation guidelines for reporting.
