Students in the Midwest Score Highest

  • The average mathematics score in the Midwest was higher than the scores in the other three regions. Students in the Northeast scored higher on average than students in the South.
  • The percentage of students at or above Basic was higher in the Midwest than in the other three regions. The percentage at or above Proficient in the Midwest was higher than in the South and West, but was not significantly different from the Northeast.
