Male Students Score Higher Than Female Students Overall, but not in Every Content Area

  • In 2005 at grade 12, male students scored higher on average in mathematics than female students.
  • When the results were examined by each of the four content areas, the scores for male students were only higher than the scores for female students in the number properties and operations and the measurement and geometry content areas. The apparent score differences in other content areas were not statistically significant.
