State Comparisons

Compare performance in your state to others. After making a few selections, a ranking of states can be sorted by performance of student groups and by gains over time.

State Profiles

Explore each state's student and school population results from previous NAEP assessments. The profiles provide easy access to all NAEP data for participating states and links to the most recent state report cards for all available subjects.

District Profiles

Explore the results of the NAEP Trial Urban District Assessments (TUDA). The tool makes it possible to compare the performance of students in participating urban districts with public school students in large cities (i.e., cities with populations of 250,000 or more). Results include mathematics, reading, writing, and science for grades 4 and 8.

Item Maps

Find out what questions students were able to answer at the Basic, Proficient, and Advanced achievement levels. Selected questions are available in the Questions Tool for further exploration of types of skills assessed in NAEP subject areas.

Content Frameworks

Download NAEP assessment frameworks. Each NAEP assessment is built around an organizing framework, which is the blueprint that guides the development of the assessment instrument and determines the content to be assessed.
