Mathematics scores increased for public school students at both grades.

Trend in fourth-grade NAEP mathematics average scores, by type of school

Findings

  • The average score for students in public schools was higher in 2007 than in all previous assessment years.
  • Students in private schools had a higher average score than students in public schools in 2007.
