  • There were no significant changes for any racial/ethnic group in percentages at the Basic or Proficient levels when comparing 2006 with 1998.

NOTE: The percentages presented here for 1998 are based on school reports on students’ race/ethnicity, and differ from those presented previously which were based on student self-identification. Black includes African American, Hispanic includes Latino, Pacific Islander includes Native Hawaiian, and American Indian includes Alaska Native. Race categories exclude Hispanic origin.
